Hard to believe it is older than Starbucks. I don’t particularly like Peet’s coffee or food but since it is historic I showed up and had a good time nonetheless

I love Peet's coffee from the first time I tried it, and it's been my go-to coffee of choice. I've tried many, many types and brands of coffee and I keep coming back to Peet's. There is just something wholesome about the flavor, taste, and strength of their coffee compared to others. Whenever I get a chance to, I go to the Vine St. Peet's location to get my coffee fix since I work close by. This location is a bit hidden in a quiet area above Shattuck and is so nice to walk by the small shops and restaurants here. You'll never know what you'll find. I don't think I've ever been disappointed by getting coffee from Peet's here. The corner shop is so quaint and unassuming that you'll miss it if you aren't aware it's there. Once inside the shop is just like any other Peet's shop. Sitting space is okay, lots of space but not too many tables and chairs. It's okay though, I usually just take my coffee and have a nice walk if I must. There are just lots of things to see around here.

Peets is the best! I was so happy to walk into the original Peets. They are very original and authentic, and by that I mean that they do not sell hot food only pastries for any of those who are wondering. During my visit today the cashier was very kind and informative. I felt very welcomed.

Original location of the first Peet’s coffee branch. Prices, selection, and ambience seem to reflect my experience at other Peets’. The location has a kind of awkward interior design, which leads to relatively limited seating. Prices seem to be average, but the quality of the beverages pictured (iced red eye and Havana Cappucino) was very good. I will be back if I’m in the East Bay

Lovely, trendy, local coffee shop just min off Shattuck Ave. Nice decor very unique. Friendly services. Seems mature, academic crowd, classic music. And excellent coffee.

The original Peet's has a bit more to offer than just great coffee. Lots of photos from Pete and his early years.

The original Peet's. It has all the normal Peet's stuff, with a little museum and sitting area added on to the normal Peets layout. Nice location in "Gourmet Ghetto" in Berkeley, so a selection of other nice food stores to visit after you've had your coffee parking Is either on the street in the commercial district or the residential neighborhood adjacent, so you may be looking for a bit to find parking.
